In the pursuit of fitness

I've always enjoyed exercise, but tend to lose motivation very fast. I was also a runner and had spend the past year traveling around the country running in half-marathons, but I was a mediocre runner. I have always been intrigue by fitness athlete, but thought that a physique like that was unattainable.

One day while browsing a friend's Facebook page, I came across the profile of an absolutely stunning lady... Lauren Catherine. I was in total awe with her physique, and having the obsessive personality I have, I stalked her Facebook page until I finally found out how she attained such a sculpted body. She was a Mibolife athlete. I browsed the Mibolife website and decided that I if I wanted to obtained my fitness and health goals, I would need to enlist the help of Mibolife's president and owner, Ben Yosef.

When I first met Ben, I explained to him that I was interested in getting my clothes to fit better, and that I wanted to get into the shape of my life. But after meeting Lauren Catherine and the rest of the Team Mibolife Athletes, it was then that I made a decision... I wanted to complete in a figure competition. It was time to really get in shape.
About 37 pounds overweight and tired of just feeling mediocre, I started with a vengeance. The first phase of Ben's consisted on getting me lean, the second part consisted of building my musculature, and last was prepping me for my first figure competition. Ben customized a personalized clean eating plan for me, and we worked out almost every day for at least an hour.  Approximately 7 months and 37 pounds later, I was shopping for new clothes, and ready to step on stage for the first time.
I did not place on my first figure competition and didn't take home a trophy, but I got into the best shape of my life and I get to go home to a loving, supportive family.

Burlesque Dance

"Life is a dance, from one stage to the next."
~unknown

This week I was able to cross out one of the many items on my list.  Burlesque Dance!  This sexy, fun class took place in a donated dance studio in Tribeca called Space.  The class was taught by the beautiful Jo "Boobs" Weldon, Headmistress and Founder of the award-winning New York School of Burlesque, and writer of The Burlesque Handbook.   And..... I can't even talk about how much fun it was!

I arrived to class pretty early.  The studio was not open yet, so I had to wait outside.  Luckily I drove and I was able to sit in my car and wait for the studio to open.  At about 7:45 PM I went inside the studio, and the fun began.  I met Martina, Evelyn Vinyl, Tina Tassels, Charlie Gun, and Sincerely Yours.  Wow!  What a bunch of sexy, beautiful and fun ladies.  They are all NYSB graduates and have some experience with Burlesque dance.  They assured me that I would have the time of my life and they were absolutely right!

First, Ms Jo Boobs taught us how to put on false eyelashes and red glitter lipstick.  Then she put us in boas and gloves and taught us a short sexy routine that included a chair!.  I learned the "sexy shimmy, the tantalizing glove peel, the devastating bump n grind, and a very short, saucy, playful, and sexy chair dance.

I had a great time, and even purchase Jo Boobs book, which she so kindly signed.  Yay!  At the end of the night I was no Dita Von Teese, but I must say that I walked away smiling, and with some fascinating new talents that Mr E will truly appreciate.

Thanks Ms Jo Boobs, and cheers to a night of boas, shimmy, bumps, n grinds.
XoXo

Things that make me happy

Ok... So.... This is a list of a few of the things that bring a smile to my face.  Things that make me happy!  In no particular order...
  1. Starbucks.  Yeap, I am totally addicted to coffee.  I a caffeine junkie and the stronger the better
  2. My family.  My fun and loving son, awesome parents, funny and thoughtful friends, and sweet boyfriend
  3. My dogs.  Lucky and Pee-Wee.  These little guys are always waiting for me with a smile (tail wagging)
  4. Traveling.  I once read a quote that said "The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page".  Therefore, I want to read the entire book!
  5. Reading.  Nothing like reading good books and magazines
  6. Sleep.  Uninterrupted
  7. Cleaningness. A clean house (extremely rare, but MUCH appreciated!)
  8. Good food

... to be continued....
